I am an assitant professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Missouri -- Columbia. I am an observer, using advanced telescopes to study galaxy formation and evolution across the cosmic time.

My research focuses on on how galaxies, such as our own Milky Way, were formed and evolved from small, irregular blobs in the early universe into today's large, massive systems with diverse morphology. Particularly, I am interested in the following issues:

* how star formation activity is turn on and off in galaxies

* what controls the mass--energy--chemical cycles in galaxies

* connection between morphology, color, and physical properties of galaxies

Before joining Mizzou, I was a postdoc at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I received my PhD degree from the University of Massachusetts -- Amherst. I obtained my bachelor degree from the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, China.
