I am an economist at the University of Missouri and a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. I received my PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and my bachelor's degree from Duke University.

My research focuses on the macroeconomic consequences of debt and insolvency. I have primarily studied these issues in relation to the housing and student loan crises of the past decade.

My work also highlights the economic effects of household risk, market frictions, and government intervention in financial markets.
